FAQ

What is WordPress?

WordPress is one of the most user-friendly, popular, and flexible web publishing platforms available today. That’s why major brands such as The Wall Street Journal, Sony, People Magazine, Ben & Jerry, Samsung, and CNN use it for their websites. Once its set-up, it’s easy for non-techie types to add and edit content and functionality. And it’s a open-source technology, which means it gives you the freedom and flexibility to enhance your website as your business grows.

What is a WordPress theme?

Simply put, a theme dictates the design and functionality of your website. Browse our Theme Gallery of professional designs to find one that suits your needs. Then simply provide us with your theme color preference (options vary by theme), logo, text, and images. We’ll set up your website using your chosen theme and your own content!

What if I need more pages than what my package includes?

No problem! We’ll set you up with up to 4 pages of your choice (such as home page, services, about, and contact form) using the content you provide. After we launch your website, you’ll get WordPress video tutorials on how to easily add new pages. Or, you can choose to have us create additional pages for you at $35/page.

I don’t have all of my content yet. Can I add it myself later?

Absolutely! One of the great things about having a WordPress website is that that you can add/edit content anytime. Plus, making regular updates to your website is a good thing (it keeps your website fresh and interesting…and the search engines like that too). Once we set it up, you’ll get step-by-step training videos on how to easily edit your website.

Do I provide the images for my website?

Yes, just provide us with photos/images of your choice by uploading them to our project center. Don’t have any? No worries, you can purchase affordable stock photography (72dpi) through websites such as fotolia.com or istockphoto.com and simply upload them to your project center. Or, we’ll just use placeholder images and you can update them whenever you’d like.

What if I already have a website hosted somewhere else?

Our packages include 1 year of free hosting. After that, you can choose to continue with our partnered web host (currently around $7/month) or you can move your website to any web host you’d like.

What if I already have a registered domain name?

Once your website is launched, we will provide you with instructions on how to direct your domain name to your new website. Our packages include free domain name registration, so if you haven’t already registered your domain name we can do it for you. We will also provide you with instructions on how to create (an unlimited amount) of email boxes using your new website host.

Will I be able to edit the site myself?

Absolutely! You will also have ongoing access to our library of easy, step-by-step video tutorials so you can learn as much as you’d like about how to get the most out of your WordPress website!

Can I accept payments on my website?

We do not offer e-commerce services at this time, but we can quickly get a website set up with your content (based on the theme’s demo). You can then add buttons from external accounts (such as Paypal) to your content to accept payments (or add any additional functionality through 3rd party WordPress plugins). Some of our themes do have e-commerce / shop capability built-in that you can set up seperately.

What are SEO Meta tags?

Meta tags are coded into your website pages, providing search engines with information about your website. It’s of many ways to help your website obtain high search engine rankings.

  • Description: This tag provides a short description of the page. In some situations this description is used as a part of the snippet shown in the search results. Most search engines use a maximum of 160 characters for the description.
  • Title: The contents of this tag are generally shown as the title in search results (and of course in the user’s browser). Most search engines use a maximum of 70 characters for the title.
  • Keywords: Words and key phrases relevant to the page content

We will configure your website using the meta tags you provide. Need help coming up with effective meta tags for your website? Check our SEO Packages!
